Terms of Service for Members of the Asia Pacific Prostate Society
Chapter 1: General Provisions Article 1 (Purpose) These terms and conditions (hereinafter referred to as the "Terms") are established to set forth the terms of use, operation, and all relevant matters pertaining to the website (hereinafter referred to as the "Service") developed and provided by the Asia Pacific Prostate Society (hereinafter referred to as the "Society"). Article 2 (Definitions) ① Definitions of the terms used in these Terms are as follows: 1. "Service" refers to all uses of the Society's website. 2. "Member" refers to any individual who accesses the Society's website, agrees to these Terms, provides personal information, registers as a member, and is eligible to use the materials and services provided by the Society. 3. "Member ID" refers to a combination of letters and numbers selected by the member and assigned by the Society for the purpose of identification and service use. 4. "Password" refers to a unique combination of letters and numbers set by the member to verify identity in connection with their Member ID. 5. "Service Agreement" refers to all contracts concluded between the Society and the member in relation to the use of the Service, including these Terms. 6. "Withdrawal" refers to the act of a member terminating the service agreement. Article 3 (Effectiveness and Amendment of the Terms) ① These Terms take effect when they are posted online via the Service and when the user who agrees to them completes membership registration. ② The Society may revise the Terms within the bounds of applicable laws if there are justifiable reasons, and the revised Terms shall take effect once announced through the website. ③ Members must check for any changes to the announced Terms. The Society is not responsible for any damages incurred by a member due to unawareness of the changes. ④ If a member does not agree to the amended Terms, they may request to withdraw from membership. Article 4 (Rules Outside the Terms) Matters not specified in these Terms shall be governed by the Framework Act on Telecommunications, the Telecommunications Business Act, the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, and other related laws and regulations. Chapter 2: Formation and Termination of the Service Agreement Article 5 (Formation of the Service Agreement) ① The Service Agreement is deemed to be formed when the user selects the consent option for the Terms of Use. ② The Service Agreement is officially concluded when the user agrees to these Terms and the Society approves the user's application for service use. Article 6 (Membership Registration) ① Membership registration is completed when the applicant verifies their identity through the Service and fills out the required information on the application form. ② All members must provide accurate personal information to use the Service. Members who use another person's information or submit false information are not entitled to any rights related to the Service and may be subject to legal consequences. ③ Membership registration may be canceled under the following circumstances: 1. If the application was made using someone else's name. 2. If false information was entered or submitted in the membership application. 3. If the application was made with the intent of disturbing public order or good morals. 4. If the applicant does not meet the membership requirements set by the Society. Article 7 (Membership Withdrawal) ① A member who wishes to terminate the Service Agreement must personally withdraw their membership. ② Upon withdrawal, the member will lose access to all online services such as the website and e-books. ③ Member information may be deleted or destroyed through a specified procedure. Article 8 (Assignment of Member ID) ① The Society shall assign a Member ID in accordance with the Service Terms and applicable regulations. ② As a general rule, Member IDs cannot be changed. If a change is necessary due to unavoidable reasons, the member must withdraw and re-register. Article 9 (Approval and Restriction of Service Use) ① The Society generally approves applications for service use in the order received, provided there are no technical or operational issues. ② Approval may be delayed or withheld in the following cases until the reason for restriction is resolved: 1. If there is a lack of available system resources. 2. If there are technical difficulties on the website. 3. If the Society is unable to approve the request due to its own circumstances. ③ Members whose personal data validity period of 5 years has expired must re-consent to the use of their personal data. Failure to do so may result in restricted service access. Article 10 (Protection and Use of Personal Information) ① The Society protects member information in accordance with the "Personal Information Protection Act." ② To delete personal information, the member must visit the Society in person and verify their identity. If there is a record of book loans, deletion is not permitted. ③ The Society shall not disclose or distribute a member's personal information to third parties without the member's consent. However, information may be provided within the bounds of the law in the following cases: 1. If requested by investigative or governmental authorities. 2. If necessary for the verification of illegal acts, including violations of laws or Terms. 3. If required by other applicable laws. ④ The Society must obtain renewed consent from the member for continued use of their personal information after the validity period expires. Chapter 3: Obligations of the Contracting Parties Article 11 (Obligations of the Society) ① The Society shall provide continuous and stable services, and if a system failure occurs causing service interruption, it shall repair or restore it without delay. ② The Society shall establish a security system to protect members' personal information and make every effort to safeguard it. ③ If a member raises a legitimate concern or complaint, the Society shall process it immediately through appropriate procedures. If immediate handling is not possible, the Society shall inform the member of the reason and the expected timeline. Article 12 (Obligations of Members) ① Members must provide accurate information when applying for membership or updating their information, and cannot claim any rights if they submit false or another person's information. ② Members must comply with these Terms, the precautions announced by the Society, and any usage restrictions. ③ Members may not transfer their Member ID or password to third parties. ④ Members may not engage in commercial activities using the Service without the prior approval of the Society. The Society is not responsible for the results of such commercial activities. If the Society suffers damage due to such conduct, the responsible member must compensate for damages and may face service restrictions and legal claims. ⑤ Members may not copy, modify, translate, publish, or broadcast information obtained through the Service, or provide it to third parties without the prior approval of the Society. ⑥ Members must not infringe upon the intellectual property rights or other rights of the Society or third parties, and must not engage in the following: 1. Unauthorized use of another member's ID. 2. Engaging in or promoting criminal activity. 3. Defaming or insulting others. 4. Infringing upon intellectual property or other legal rights. 5. Spreading viruses or engaging in hacking. 6. Interfering with the operation of the Service. 7. Violating any relevant laws or regulations. Chapter 4: Use of the Service Article 13 (Provision of Services) ① The Society shall commence services upon approval of the member's application. ② Online services are generally available 24/7 year-round unless there are specific operational or technical issues. Scheduled maintenance, system upgrades, or replacements may result in temporary suspension, which will be announced in advance. ③ In urgent cases such as system checks, upgrades, service overload, national emergencies, or power outages, the Society may suspend services without prior notice. ④ If necessary for service management or restructuring, the Society may partially or fully suspend services after notifying members in advance. Article 14 (Service Changes) ① The Society may change all or part of the services due to operational or technical reasons. ② Any changes to the service content, usage methods, or hours will be announced on the website along with the reasons and effective date. ③ The Society shall not compensate users for any damage resulting from modification, suspension, or discontinuation of free services. Article 15 (Management of Posted Content) ① Members are solely responsible for any damages or problems caused by the content they post, and the Society bears no responsibility. ② The Society may delete content without prior consent if it falls under any of the following: 1. Violates these Terms or includes commercial, illegal, obscene, or vulgar content. 2. Defames or insults other members or third parties. 3. Violates public order or morality. 4. Promotes illegal copying or hacking. 5. Contains advertisements for profit. 6. Is objectively connected to criminal activity. 7. Infringes upon the copyrights or other rights of the Society or third parties. 8. Violates any applicable laws or regulations. Article 16 (Copyright of Posted Content) ① Copyrights and intellectual property rights related to the Service belong to the Society. ② The copyright of content posted by members belongs to the individual member. However, the Society may use such content for non-commercial purposes such as service operation, exhibition, or promotion. ③ If posted content infringes upon another's copyright, the member is solely responsible for any civil or criminal liability. Article 17 (Restriction of Service Use) ① If a member violates Article 12 of these Terms, the Society may restrict their use of the Service after notifying or announcing the violation. ② Members may file an objection against the restriction, and if the objection is deemed valid, service use will be resumed immediately. Chapter 5: Damages and Miscellaneous Article 18 (Damages) If either the Society or the member causes damage to the other party through willful misconduct or negligence in connection with the use of the Service, compensation must be made. Article 19 (Disclaimer) ① The Society is not responsible for service disruptions caused by force majeure such as natural disasters, war, or suspension of service by telecommunications carriers. ② The Society is not responsible for damages resulting from service maintenance, replacement, inspection, or construction. ③ The Society is not liable for any damage resulting from incorrect personal information submitted by the member. ④ The Society is not responsible for any failure to achieve expected results or loss of data through the Service. ⑤ The Society is not responsible for the reliability or accuracy of information posted by members. Article 20 (Jurisdiction) Any disputes arising from the use of the Service shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the court having authority over the location of the Society. Supplementary Provisions These Terms shall take effect on January 1, 2025.

Terms of Privacy Policy of the Asia Pacific Prostate Society
All personal information handled by the Asia-Pacific Prostate Society is collected, stored, and processed based on the Personal Information Protection Act and other relevant laws, or by the consent of the data subject. The Asia-Pacific Prostate Society follows a privacy policy in compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act to protect the privacy and rights of users, and to handle user concerns related to personal information. In the event of any amendments, the changes will be announced on the website. Article 1 (Purpose of Personal Information Processing) The Asia-Pacific Prostate Society processes personal information for the following purposes. The processed personal information will not be used for purposes other than those stated below, and if the purpose of use changes, prior consent will be obtained. 1. Service Provision The personal information is processed for the purpose of providing services such as introduction and notices about the Asia-Pacific Prostate Society, educational content, identity verification, certificate issuance (e.g., educational completion certificates), admission-related information, etc. 2. Membership Registration and Management Personal information is processed for the purpose of confirming identity, personal identification, preventing fraudulent use by bad members, preventing unauthorized use, verifying age, record preservation for dispute resolution, handling complaints, and delivering notices in relation to membership services in areas such as admissions, academics, students, books, teaching development, research, and health. Article 2 (Items of Personal Information Collected, Collection Methods, Retention Basis, Retention Period) Personal information will be discarded once the processing purpose is achieved. However, if personal information needs to be retained due to academic regulations or other legal requirements, it will be retained according to the relevant legal provisions. The personal information files processed by the Asia-Pacific Prostate Society for various services include the following: • ID, Name, Email, Phone Number, Workplace, Workplace Zip Code, Workplace Address, Workplace Phone Number, etc. The registration details of the personal information file can be confirmed by searching for "Asia-Pacific Prostate Society" on the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's personal information protection portal (www.privacy.go.kr). Article 3 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties) The Asia-Pacific Prostate Society processes personal information within the scope specified in Article 1 (Purpose of Personal Information Processing) and does not provide personal information to third parties without the prior consent of the user. However, personal information may be provided under the following circumstances: • If the user has consented to the provision and disclosure of personal information to third parties. • If required by law. • If providing the personal information is necessary for the performance of a contract related to the service, and it is difficult to obtain usual consent due to economic or technical reasons. • If the information is processed in a way that does not allow for the identification of individuals. Article 4 (Outsourcing Personal Information Processing) To provide effective services, the Asia-Pacific Prostate Society may outsource personal information processing, with the user's consent. The outsourced companies process personal information only to the minimum extent required for performing their duties. • Outsourced tasks include website maintenance, collection and management of personal information within the website, etc. • Outsourcing Company Contact: 02-2038-7988 • Contracts include clauses to ensure compliance with privacy protection laws, prohibit third-party disclosure, and assign responsibility. Any changes in outsourcing companies will be announced on the website and in the privacy policy. Article 5 (Rights, Obligations, and Method of Exercise of the Data Subject) Users, as data subjects, have the following rights: 1. Request for Personal Information Access Users can request access to the personal information files held by the Asia-Pacific Prostate Society in accordance with Article 35 of the Personal Information Protection Act. However, access may be restricted under certain conditions as outlined by law. 2. Request for Personal Information Correction/Deletion Users can request correction or deletion of their personal information held by the Asia-Pacific Prostate Society in accordance with Article 36 of the Personal Information Protection Act, unless specified otherwise by other laws. Article 6 (Destruction of Personal Information) The Asia-Pacific Prostate Society will destroy personal information once the processing purpose is achieved. The procedure, period, and method of destruction are as follows: 1. Destruction Procedure Information entered by users is transferred to a separate database after the purpose is achieved (for paper documents, they are stored separately) and is stored for a specific period in accordance with internal policies or related laws before being destroyed. 2. Destruction Period Personal information will be destroyed within 5 days after the retention period ends, or when the purpose of processing has been achieved, the service is discontinued, or the business ends. 3. Destruction Method Electronic files are destroyed using technical methods that prevent recovery, and paper documents are shredded or incinerated. Article 7 (Measures to Secure the Safety of Personal Information) The Asia-Pacific Prostate Society takes necessary technical, managerial, and physical measures to secure the safety of personal information under Article 29 of the Personal Information Protection Act, including the following: • Minimizing the number of personnel handling personal information and providing training. • Conducting regular audits to ensure information security. • Establishing and implementing an internal management plan. • Encrypting sensitive information like passwords and identification numbers. • Installing security programs and regularly updating them to prevent hacking or virus threats. • Restricting access to the personal information processing system through permission management and using blocking systems.
